Diagnostic Surveys: 360°s, Employee and
Customer Perception Surveys
Why are surveys important for your organization?
We all need objective, uncontaminated opinions to determine the real
perceptions of our employees, direct reports, co-workers or
customers who actually purchase or receive goods or services.
Surveys make it “safe” to express true feelings and opinions without
risk. This enables you to:
- Identify and respond to issues and problems;
- Send a message that management cares and is willing to address the issues.

360° Reviews:
The feedback from a manager’s direct reports, peers and manager,
positioned against a self-assessment, provides essential feedback on
strengths to celebrate and most importantly, the skills or
competencies that need to be improved to become more effective
managers. Gaps are highlighted and reviewees have the opportunity to
receive more focused coaching from their managers or from external
coaches, where appropriate.
The review instrument can be customized. Consolidation of results
also highlights management skills that need development across the

Employee Perception Surveys:
The employee survey provides a macro view of employee morale and
internal business practices. High employee satisfaction typically
means high customer satisfaction and high productivity and
performance.
Employees are broken into groups by location or department to
pinpoint areas that need attention but not too small to compromise
confidentiality. The themes analyses provide an overview of the
issues and the low-hanging fruit for follow-up and accountability.
Typical survey categories are:
Company Communications, Role of Senior Management, Management
Practices, Quality of Worklife, Compensation and Benefits Practices,
Job Satisfaction, and others. Additional categories can be added to
reflect the organization’s needs.
Customer Perception Surveys:
The perceptions of your customers are vital to the planning process,
your marketing and, indeed, to the health of every business. For
rapid capture of customer feedback, online surveys address quality
of products and services and encourage customer suggestions.
For internal customer surveys, support departments (IT, HR,
Accounting, Marketing, Legal, etc.) are evaluated by users of their
services.
